Frequently Asked Questions
How do I connect to a server over SSH?
Create a saved server connection or use the standard ssh user@hostname command. Confirm the host fingerprint and use only credentials you trust.
How do I use the AI assistant?
Choose Exec Cloud or a local AI option in Settings, then open the assistant. Exec Cloud requires Sign in with Apple and includes a limited free allowance; local Apple Intelligence, on-device models, and your own Ollama endpoint do not require an Exec Cloud subscription. Suggested commands should always be reviewed before you run them.
How do subscriptions work?
Exec Terminal Pro increases the fair-use limits for Exec Cloud AI and Agent features. It is an auto-renewable App Store subscription. Open Account or the Pro screen and choose Manage Subscription to review or cancel renewal. Terminal, SSH, Mosh, and local AI features remain available without Pro.
How do I restore a subscription?
Sign in with Apple using the same Exec Cloud account, open the Pro screen, and choose Restore Purchases. Purchases are verified with Apple and bound to your Exec Cloud account.
How do I delete my Exec Cloud account?
Open Account, choose Delete Account, and confirm. Account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription. Use Manage Subscription if you also want to stop renewal.
Does the AI assistant receive terminal output?
Only when you enable Include terminal context. It is off by default. The App bounds and redacts common credential patterns before sending enabled context to Exec Cloud or your configured Ollama endpoint. Do not intentionally include secrets in prompts or terminal context.
Where are credentials stored?
SSH credentials and Exec Cloud session tokens are stored in iOS Keychain. Keychain items may persist after uninstall, so remove saved servers and sign out before deleting the App if you want those credentials removed.
Why can a local server fail to connect?
Check that Local Network permission is enabled for exec, that the host and port are correct, and that the server is reachable from the same network.
What should I include in a bug report?
Include the device model, iOS version, app version, connection type, and reproducible steps. Redact usernames, addresses, commands, output, keys, and passwords.
